
Awami League Backed Candidates Won a majority in the Panchagarh
Awami League-backed candidates won a majority in the Panchagarh District Lawyers Association elections. The Awami League-backed candidates won six posts, including the president and general secretary, among the eight posts. BNP-backed lawyers have won five posts, including vice-president.
Chief Election Commissioner Akhil Chandra Barman announced the results of the election last Thursday (March 12). He said that out of 5 voters in the elections, 1 voted.
Advocate Aminur Rahman has been elected as the president with 120 votes. His nearest rival, Mirza Amirul Islam, got 5 votes. Advocate Fazlul Haque has been elected as the general secretary after receiving 5 votes. His nearest rival, Abdul Bari, got 5 votes.
Among the Awami League supporters, Humayun Kabir Biplob has been elected as the Secretary of the Library, Jalal Uddin Ahmed as the Legal Aid Secretary and Muhammad Kamruzzaman and Mokbul Hossain as the Executive Members.
On the other hand, the BNP-backed winners are Golam Rabbani, vice-president (unopposed), Abu Sayed as deputy general secretary, Khairul Alam, sports and cultural secretary, and Ansarul Islam Hemu and Habib Al Amin Ferdous.
The Election was free and fair operating by the selected Election commissioners under the guidence of the Chief Election Commissioner Advocate Aminur Rahman. The Chief election commissioner is a senior Lawyer of the Bar.
It is noted that the Bar Election of the Panchgarh based on non- political identities.No political parties are allowed to interfere this frequent election for every one year.Though the Awami League backed candidates won in the race of Election for Panchagarh District Lawyers Association.
The duration of these elected members for one years from the date of taking execution powers of the Bar. Thus the Awami league backed executive Committee is responsible for the well being of the members of this Bar.
